Awards Night Honors
Outstanding Athletes

Outstanding athletes on Maine West's basketball, swimming, gymnastics, and wrestling teams received their letters at the Dads' Club Awards Night, March 18, in the auditorium.

Requirements for varsity basketball players were 44 quarters of play. Those receiving awards were Willie Anderson, Ray Anderson, Randy Bruesher (most valuable player), Kim Freeman, Randy Hann, Gary Heist, George Horn, Rick Kameyer, Bill Markworth, Dennis Willison, and managers Gary Utes and Keith Wolter.

Junior varsity basketball players needed 34 quarters. Those awarded were Dan Campagne (most valuable), Ken Gutowski, Richard Henricks, Stu Miller, Bob Olesen, Jeff Thomas, Charles Sherman, Don Schroeder, Jeff Smith, Gordon Lewis, Dan Moll, and John Schmidt.

Varsity gymnasts had to have 35 points or a place in the state meet to get their letters. Rick Didier, Marc Forkins, Bob Gillespie, Jim Janssens, (most valuable), Tony Kurtz, Bob Moehling, Kurt Nagel, Bob Suda, Tom Tyler, Al Van Ornum, and Bryant Ways were awarded.

Varsity swimmers needed to participate in two‑thirds of the meets, get 20 points, or place in the state meet. Letters were given to Dave Benton, Jack Branding, Pat Brennan, Royle Epperson, Scott Gyssler, Don Hudson, Steve Hurtt, Mark Koerner, Lance Kutnze (most valuable), Gary Larsen, Jim Lillquist, Steve Loska, Ted Loska, Terry Matyja, Skip Parent, Tom Peterson, Greg Reinhart, Steve Sperling, Terry Stoner, Ron Strand, Bruce Vosburgh, and manager Bryan Coussens.

Varsity wrestlers receving letters were Bruce Barringer, Bruce Beam, William Beam, Dave Boesche, Rick Fielden, Tom Mietus, Jim Morrison (most valuable), Kevin Sherwood, William Tillman, Steven Waecker, Jim Webster, Robert Wolfgram, and manager Robert Hillenburg.
