GI Drive Week Activities To Raise Funds for USO

This year's G.I. Drive will be held April 28 through May 4, according to Vicki Coash '70, chairman of the drive.

The purpose of the drive is to collect money for the USO. The USO in turn will buy equipment for entertaining the G.I.s. Such equipment as tape recorders, record players, and various other things will be bought.

The highlight of the drive will be a concert on May 4. The New Colony Six and the For Days and a Night will perform. Larry Lujack, disk jockey for WLS, will be the master of ceremonies. The concert will be held in the auditorium.

Two performances will be given the evening of May 4; one show will be at 6:45 p.m. and the other at 8:30 p.m. The tickets for the two performances are being sold in the cafeteria and bookstore for $2.50. No seats are reserved.

Besides the concert, the Human Relations Committee is planning assemblies for the four classes.

These assemblies will be similar to last year's with the slides showing our service men in action. This year an added attraction to the slide show will be Carolyn Hummel '69 singing. Nancy Hower '69 is in charge of the assemblies.

Also during the week Student Council will be collecting money in the halls and homerooms. This money added to the concert money will all go to the USO.

"There was talk of having a different kind of drive this year, but the students felt the G.I.s deserved the money more than any other organization," commented Vicki Coash.
