The Election Jitney announcing the new officers of president, vice‑president, and secretary of Student Council was held Friday, April 11.

The dance took place in the cafeteria from 8 until 10:30 p.m. Admission was a quarter, and the Neon Wrath supplied music. About 200 students attended the jitney.

The new officers were announced about 9:45 p.m. Rich Buchanan, this year's vice‑president, announced that Joe Szabo had won the election for vice-president. Marilyn Kalata, Student Council secretary, introduced Debbie Lusk as next year's secretary. Randy Hann announced that Dave Atkinson had been elected the new Student Council president.

Joe Szabo, Debbie Lusk, and Dave Atkinson each said a few words thanking everyone who had helped them on their campaigns. All of the candidates received a folder commemorating Election Week. In the folders were their campaign slogans, buttons, tags, and their petitions.

The Social Committee of Student Council is in charge of organizing the Election Jitney, which is an annual event.
