Tonight, May 9, Maine West's Music Department will present "The Music Festival." This spring concert will be held in the auditorium and is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Admission to the festival will be $.75 for all students and $1 for adults.
Beginning the program will be the Concert Band, conducted by Mr. Robert Kuite; and they will play five selections.
Following the Concert Band will be the Girls' Glee, directed by Mr. Grant Anderson. One selection for the group will be the "Preludium" from Sound of Music.
Mrs. Mildred Heidorn will then conduct the Concert Orchestra, with Janet Haarvig '70 as cellist. Mrs. Heidorn will also conduct the String Orchestra in "The Swan" and "Tales from the Vienna Woods."

Succeeding the orchestra will be Concert Choir. Mr. Anderson will conduct them with Nancy Davis '69 and Sue Chamberlin '70 as accompanists in two of the Choir's three selections.
Mr. Herman L. Rider, principal, will then say a few words as a tribute to the memory of Mr. Wilbur F. Schafer. Following the tribute, the Concert Choir will sing "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God."
After this, all the choral classes will sing the "Battle Hymn of the Republic." The significance of this song is that this was first conducted at Maine West at the dedication ceremony in the fall of 1959.
