West Opens For Parents

Maine West's Spring Open House was held Tuesday, May 6. The program, varying from previous years, allowed parents and teachers, as well as students, to participate. Those students present demonstrated the various skills they use each day in every department of education.

Clubs and organizations also exhibited displays in the rotunda area. As in other years, teachers were available in their assigned rooms from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This allowed parents and teachers to discuss the student's progress in school.

The new library resource center was opened for inspection with continuous tours until 9:30 p.m. Other scheduled events included demonstrations from the Art, English, Physical Education, Home Economics, Social Science, and Audio Visual Departments.

Mrs. Lucille Stiles, chairman of the Home Economics Department, one of the two sponsors of the Open House, commented, "This gave parents and the people of the community an opportunity to visit the school, see the facilities we provide, and see students participating in everyday activities."

Mr. George Blanas, chairman of the Art Department, was also a sponsor of this event.
