Tom Peterson '70 has been chosen to represent Maine West as a foreign exchange student. The decision was made by the AFS chapter in early April.
"In order to be accepted in the program, " Tom explained, "a student fills out and sends in the application. Thin he is interviewed along with the other students who applied. After this, the AFS board forms a committee and carefully selects the student they feel is most qualified."

someone who is friendly and able to get along with others. The student must have a "B" average.
When questioned about his reaction, Tom stated, "I'm glad to have the chance to be an 'ambassador' for the U.S., because there's really no ambassador for the youth of our country."
When asked what his advice to students is, Jim replied, "Everything I can think of is so trite. I guess the only advice I have is to do what your conscience dictates and to try and change things peaceably."
