Recently the Pom‑Pon and Varsity Cheerleading Squads for the 1969‑70 season were chosen. Clinics for both squads were held prior to the tryouts. The cheerleaders were chosen last Tuesday, April 29, and the Pom‑Pon Squad on Monday, May 6.

Mrs. Nancy Kerby, sponsor for the Pom‑Pon Squad, found it necessary to have both semifinal and final tryouts because of the number of girls competing for the squad. There was only one cheerleading tryout. All girls were judged on pep, appearance, rhythm, coordination, motions, group harmony, and leadership because of its importance.

The new varsity cheerleaders are Chris Clausen '70, Roxy Doremus '71, Betsy Huxmann '70, Dorrie Johnson '70, Rita Nelson '71, Jo Pabich '70, Diane Sachetti '71, and Jill Whetham '71. All of the girls chosen have been on a cheerleading squad before. They will be choosing a captain and co‑captain for next year in the near future.

Judging the cheerleaders were Miss Carol Ann Davis and Miss Janice Richter, sponsors for the cheerleading squads this past year, the senior cheerleaders, and representatives from various clubs.

The Pom‑Pon Squad consists of Jan Barkell '71, Stephanie Carynski '71, Vicki Coash '70, Sandy Currer '71, Karla Felde '72, and Lynn Lloyd '70.

Also chosen were Lora Lorentz '71, Joanne McManus '70, Valerie Neal '71, Pam Potter '70, Gail Russel '71, and Gigi Schueler '72.

Judging these girls were Mrs. Kerby, Miss Davis, and representatives from various clubs.
