West Cindermen Place Second At Waukegan, Third at Niles

Preparing for tomorrow's district meet at Prospect, the Warrior trackmen have been searing the cinders at various relays.

At Waukegan's Drew Relays, the Warriors ran away with a second place, beaten only by Evanston. In addition to a first place by the sprint‑medley team of Mark Henkes '70, Gerry Krainik '70, John Blenner '69, and Bob Trebilcock '70, the sophomore relay team took a second in the sprint relay and a third in the 440‑yard relay.

The two‑mile relay team of Dale Dreischarf '69, Bob Glitz '69, Gary Wolf '69, Mike Wolf '69 and the high‑hurdle shuttle relay team composed of Gary Pruitt '69, Delmar Hansen '70, Mike Pruitt '71, Kevin Terry '71 took third places. The shuttle team also took a fifth in the low hurdle shuttle relay.

At the Niles North Viking Relays the Maine West trackmen placed third. The two-mile relay team took the only first

place with a time of 8:27.1. The Warriors ran second in the high and low-hurdle shuttle relays with times of 1:08.4 and 1:28.1 respectively.

Thirds were taken by the 880‑yard and mile‑relay teams with times of 1:35.2 and 3:31.8. The 440‑yard relay team placed fourth with a 46.2.

Individually, Gene Behrens '69 took second place in the long jump and a fourth in the pole vault. Steve Johnson '70 placed third in the mile while Dave Marrinson '69 took a fourth in the high jump. John Blenner '69 placed fifth in the 100‑yard dash and Jim Fisher '70 took a fifth in the pole vault event.

The seventh place at the Maine East Relays included a second place in the sprint‑relay, a fourth and a fifth place in individual events by Gene Behrens '69, and a 48.5 quarter-mile split in the distance medley by Gerry Krainik '70. A time of 51 is state qualifying in the open quarter.
