The track season is coming to a close as the Maine cindermen are continuing their winning ways by defeating Niles West and Glenbrook South in a triangular meet by a score of 97‑71.5‑56.5.
Starting out slow in the two mile with a second and fifth place by Ken Kovar '71 and Al Schank '69 respectively, the pace quickly picked up in the next event when Delmar Hansen '70 and Gary Pruitt '69 took first and third in the high hurdles.
The discus throwers kept the ball rolling when George Horn '69 and Chris Drake '69 took a first and second respectively. In the 100‑yard dash Mark Henkes '70 took second with a 10.4 while John Blenner '69 took a third with a 10.5
|The half mile was won by senior Gary Wolf with a 2:00.5 while senior Bob Glitz took second with a 2:01.2. In the open quarter junior Gerry Krainik ran the distance in 50.5 to take first place.

Senior Pruitt's 21.5 in the low hurdles took second while junior Delmar Hanson took third with a 21.8. By tying for first place with a 4:32.1, Mike Wolf '69 and Steve Johnson '70 marked up 10 more points for the team. In the 220 Mark Henkes '70 took first with a 21.9.
The field events were also fruitful. Dave Marrinson '69 took second in the high jump with 5'8" while Grant Pick '70 captured fourth with a 5'6" jump. Jumping 12', Warrior Gene Behrens '69 took second place in the pole vault while Jim Fischer '70 took a third with a vault of 11'. In the shot put Bill Meyer '71 and George Horn '69 took third and fourth with throws of 43' 9 3/4" and 43' 3/4" respectively.
The only Warrior to make it downstate in track this year, senior Gary Pruitt, had his best times this weekend when he made it to the semifinals in both the high and the low hurdles. However, competition was so keen that he did not make it to the finals in either event.
