Now that graduation is here it is time for the seniors to look back on their years at Maine and what has been accomplished.
During our four years we have seen many changes here at Maine ‑ some good, some not so good. One of the biggest changes is the new addition. Although the seniors will not really have the opportunity to take advantage of these new facilities, they will have the distinction of being the first class to graduate from the spectator stadium.
Student Council, while still the object of much criticism, has in our final year taken some positive action. Even though the new constitution is a definite step in the right direction, it is to be hoped that next year's Council will not rest on this year's accomplishments but will undertake the difficult process of making the new constitution work.

The dress code is yet another sign of change. Remember the mid‑knee rule of our freshman year? That has changed to "no more than three inches above the knee." To the credit of all, this and other changes came about with no out‑right student protest.
Other less noticeable changes have also been made around the school‑in the teachers, in the curriculum, in the rules, and in the students themselves. We have progressed from rah‑rah underclassmen to pseudo‑sophisticated juniors to full‑fledged seniors ready to leave the high school life behind.
Armed with the education and experiences that we have absorbed, our future is up to us. We can hope that while we have taken a lot from Maine, we have also left a little something of ourselves behind. And the Class of '70 can already begin to plan, as every Junior Class does, to make their senior year "the biggest and best ever."
