Departmental awards are given to seniors by various departments on the basis of scholastic averages and all‑around school citizenship. Each department may give two awards if they desire to do so.
The students which receive such awards must have completed a minimum of three year's work in the department. Scholastic averages are then computed by averaging all the grades for the work taken in the department during the entire our years of high school.
No student is eligible to receive more than one departmental award.
Mr. Herman L. Rider, principal, made the following statement about these awards, "Departmental Awards are given to seniors who have excelled in departmental classroom activities, who have demonstrated sincere interest in the subject matter, who have given

leadership to the department, and who have taken four subjects offered by the departments."

Ludolph, English Department; Mrs. Lucille E. Stiles, Home Economic Department; Mr. Robert E. Cockrane, Industrial Education;
Mr. Daniel T. Holbrook, Language Department; Mr. David L. Henry, Mathematics Department; Mr. Robert D. Kuite, Music Department; Mr. Kenneth E. Olson, Boys' Physical Education Department; Mrs. Helen E. Clouser, Girls' Physical Education Department; Mr. Loren J. Miller, Science Department; and Mr. Glenn E. Hoffmann, Social Science Department.
