Staff Selects Dance Chorus;
Girls Begin Rehearsals

"Talent, coordination, expression or style, kicks, and poise" is what it takes, says Janie Leis '69, to be on the 1968 V Show dance chorus.

Janie is this year's V‑Show dance choreographer, and it was mainly her job to pick the 10 girls.

The girls who were chosen are Vicki Coash '70, Lynn Lloyd '70, Honora Quinn '71, Valerie Neal '71, Debbie Brown '71, Donna Musselman '71, Mary Grundler '71, and Sandy Currer '71. The assistant choreographers are Jan Barkell '71 and Gloria DeFranco '71 who are also included in the chorus.

These girls were selected on Friday, September 27, and during the first week of school. Rehearsals for the dance chorus began on Monday, October 7.

Jan comments that the main job of an assistant choreographer is to "help Janie make up the dances and routines that are going to be used in the show."

When asked about the prospects of this year's dance chorus, Janie confided, "It will be pretty good. Since I have only 10 girls to work with, I will be able to do much more work with them."

Unlike last year, there will be no boys' dance chorus. A few ideas for dances in the show are a Charleston and a Rockette number, but these are not definite.
