It has been brought to the attention of the staff that the Westerner has slighted the victorious cross country team in the amount of coverage given to the sport.
In a letter to the staff, Al Crisafulli noted that less than an inch of space on page four in the September 27 issue of the Westerner was devoted to the harriers' victory in the Center Meet over 22 competing schools while the football team's defeat at the hands of Arlington was given over four inches of recognition.
It is obvious that the Westerner editors have made a mistake in giving so little coverage to a major sports event. In the editorial policy asserted in the same issue it stated, "The Westerner will

attempt to give equal coverage to various clubs, sports, and activities at Maine West.''
There are times, however, when this is impossible. It was purely unintentional that the Center Meet was so neatly played down while a 26‑0 loss for the gridmen was so clearly cited. Coverage of sports events in future issues will be more carefully considered.
The editorial policy also asserts, "The Westerner welcomes the submission of articles, editorials, and literary items by any reader." This includes coverage of sports events. The letter by Al has been greatly appreciated, and the staff encourages more letters of this nature.
