Everything in this article is from my point of view as a player and fan of sports in this school.
First of all, the varsity cheerleaders aren't trying to lead cheers: they are trying to prove that they can do fancy cheers very well. What about the fans? Can they follow these cheers? Do they cheer along? No, they don't. Why not do simple cheers that the fans can follow, and maybe the cheerleaders won't be the only ones cheering.
As for cheering ‑ there hasn't been much to cheer about from the football team. We have lost four straight. All the conference games have been so close, yet out of reach for the Warriors. Homecoming was lost by just one point! How close can a victory come without a team gaining it?

The cross country team has started out to have another good year. Coming off several big victories, they look like the team to win in the Central Suburban League this year.
Throughout the school there are veritable giants of physical strength and stamina, but are they out for sports? No, because it is not the thing to do. There has been a noticeable lack of interest by "would be" athletes, especially in the varsity level of the sports. This, I believe, starts with the freshmen and is aggravated at the sophomore level. So many underclassmen come out for sports that many promising athletes give up. It seems that at the lower levels more coaches and games for all boys could only help varsity teams later.
