"I guess I'm king of easy going. I like to have fun." That is how Bill O'Neill '70, this week's featured sports personality, describes himself.
Bill is the tailback who scored the first touchdown for Maine West in last Saturday's Homecoming game. Like everyone else he was disappointed at the outcome of the game. "But we never gave up," he noted.
Bill thought the school spirit for Homecoming was really great. When the students have the stands filled and are cheering, Bill says, "You give about 115 per cent."
Since he does not believe anybody should be pushed into anything, he recommends football only to those who

really like it. His big message to freshmen going out for a sport is the familiar cry, "Don't quit!"
By the third period in the Homecoming game West trailed 14‑0, and the outlook was glum. Warrior O'Neill woke everyone up with a 76‑yard touchdown run off the draw play. Bill's romp ignited a Warrior rally that just did fall short.
The tailback was a real workhorse Saturday as he gained well over 100 yards on the ground. Besides tailbacking, Warrior number 11 is also a member of the punt and kickoff return teams. Bill's other duties as tailback consist of blocking and receiving passes. He considers the end sweep as his favorite play.
