Marilyn, Jim Participate In 1968 Campaigns

Republicans of Maine Township unite! The Democratic Party now has a powerful political weapon - Marilyn Coombs.

Marilyn is very involved with the upcoming elections. This 5'6", blond senior has even been on television working for Humphrey at his campaign headquarters.

She originally signed up for the special government course because she wanted to learn the workings of politics. She signed up for the Democratic Party because she was very interested in the Kennedy campaign at the time.

Between Democratic rallies such as the Muskie rally at the Marriott and stuffing envelopes, Marilyn is involved in G.A.A. as its president, Senior Leaders, Des Plaines Guard, Presidents' Council, and V‑Show.

Marilyn feels that "The youth are a very important factor of politics. We will lead our country some day."

The Presidential election will be very close according to Marilyn. She feels that people who don't vote at all are not taking their country or their citizenship seriously.

If you are a Republican and interested in this year's election, Jim McCann '69 is the boy to see!

Who is Jim McCann? He is a Maine West senior and a member of the new participant political government class. Jim is also a solid Republican and is involved in many activities concerning this year's election.

Mr. Glenn Hoffman, who teaches this new course, says, "Jim is a symbol of all my students who are eager to participate in the many offered activities."

Last year, when the participant political government course was first suggested, Jim was immediately interested. He said, "I was always interested in politics, and this course seemed to be a great chance to become involved."

Involvement is the word as Jim has been active since the first week of school with the various campaign activities for this election.

Already Jim has attended a debate between Bob Juckett and Ken Lindquist, candidates for state representative, the Dirksen fund‑raising dinner at the Marriott Motel, and meetings on the local level of the Republican Party of Maine Township.
