Council Receives Criticism;
Senior Writes to Editor

Dear Editor:

Last week I sat in on a Student Council meeting. Now I know why students call it a farce. The most important issue discussed was whether our security guard was doing his job.

Other topics included how many complimentary tickets to give Maryville, whether we can get orange juice in the Coke machine, and why the "no ice" button on the Coke machine is disconnected. When several matters were referred to Service Committee, the committee members were angry for having so much work.

Linda Wesolowski said that Student Council is not a government, and she's right. Student Council is nothing more than a practical experience in Robert's Rules of Order.

Student Council members, when you hear someone criticizing your organization, don't be personally offended. Think about it. There is value in what we say.
