For Mr. Kenneth Lindquist, campaigning for state represesentative from this district, the biggest problem is finding time enough for everything.
As a teacher at Maine West, Mr. Lindquist would have to take a leave of absence every fourth semester if elected. The State House of Representatives meets every two years for six months.
Even if not elected, be said, "I intend to remain active in politics. If you want an active role in democracy, you've got to be in politics."
Mr. Lindquist was asked to run by his party in Maine Township in order to balance the ticket. He stressed that they operate locally and that no funds are raised from Chicago politicians.
Funds for the campaign could have amounted to about $1,400, but it is hard to tell. Most of the cost is the time. Since

he decided to run last February, Mr. Lindquist has found it to be a full-time job.
"To most of the students who know me, the campaign is exciting." He feels that most of the faculty is also with him. It will be a close race, but he says, "I have a good chance."
One thing Mr. Lindquist does not lack is enthusiasm. He has personally been door‑to‑door along with speaking at church groups, civic associations, educational groups, and debates. He appeared in a debate at Maine South on October 17.
"One thing I've learned is to smile when insulted. Sometimes when you get tired you wonder why you ever got into the campaign. But when you meet the people and discuss the issues, somehow it all seems worth it."
