"This year's cross country team is the best team we've had for several years. Our chances for making it to sate tomorrow are great," commented Bob Glitz '69.
Bob says about training, "The harder the practice, the easier the meet." He thinks his coaches, Mr. Ross Blake and Mr. Bill Barringer really care about the boys. Their training program helps them out more because they reach their peak at the end of the season when it really counts.
Bob thinks attendance at cross country meets should not be mandatory, since if people knew the boys, they would attend them.
According to Bob, Maine West has had a very successful season. The record is now 9‑1, the one meet was lost to Prospect. Bob placed third in the Maine West center meet with 23 schools. Maine placed first over Willowbrook by 30 points.

"If all runners have good races without mistakes, the team can make it to state. Maine West will probably beat Maine East. Evanston is the best, and New Trier East is second."
Bob feels, "The major problem with the team is that lately they have been inconsistent."
Bob is also president of M-Club. He says this year's team is one of the finest groups in a long time, and this year the pledge week has been cut out because it served no purpose.
Maine West now has a string of 31 meets in which the first place runner was a Warrior. Out of this, Bob won 10 meets.
If Bob places in the top five, he has a chance of going to state as an individual if the team doesn't place in tomorrow's meet, although he noted that the team's chances are great.
