Choose Students As City Officials

"Youth Appreciation Week" begins tomorrow, November 9, and continues through Monday, November 18. About 45 high school students from Maine East, Maine West, Notre Dame, and St. Patrick's Academy will participate.

These students will be chosen by lot to be mayor and aldermen for the week. Also included in the activities are a tour of the fire department, police department, and public works buildings.

Those Maine West juniors chosen to participate are Dave Atkinson, Chris Clausen, Linda Dye, Ron Finstad, Jim Fisher, Jeff Hanus, Larry Hennessy, and Diane Henrikson.

Others are Bill Jacobs, Scott Klose, Karen Koeller, Jim Konopacz, Jill Kutill, Leon Lukowski, Marilyn Lussky, Jim McCarthy, and Joan McManus.

Still others included are Dave O'Grady, Glen Parrote, Sue Plate, Pam Potter, Karen Raack, Charles Sadowski, Cheryl Schmidt, Renee Singer, Diane Sodermark, Lynn Spicer, Randy VonLiski, and Gail Woodward.

Additional activities include their visiting the Chicago Fire Department, Cook County Morgue, Cook County Jail, O'Hare Airport, and Forest Hospital.

These Maine West juniors were picked by their counselors. The names were then chosen by lot by the Optimist Club, one of the sponsoring clubs.
