The football season ended for the Warriors on an almost victorious note. Two weeks ago, on October 26, the gridmen came through and overpowered Niles North before a delighted home crowd at Warrior stadium, 27‑6.
Tailback Bill O'Neill '70, one of the stars of this year's team, collected two touchdowns for himself, while wingback Jim Kulik '70 and fullback Jim Morrison '69 each scored a six‑pointer. Kicking specialist Kevin Weller '69 booted three extra points to clinch the first Warrior victory.
Niles North scored their only tally on a 4‑yard end sweep by Klein during the third quarter. It was the only instance that the defense slipped a little.
This win enabled Maine West to move past Niles North and New Trier West in the Central Suburban League standings.

Last Saturday, November 2, in rival New Trier West's home stadium, the Warriors played a good ball game but had to settle for a 13‑13 tie. Joe Jung '70 and Jim Kulik '70 scored the touchdowns in the season's finale.
The football season is over. Maine West finished with one win, four losses, and two ties. It was not one of Maine's better years, although it could have been worse.
The outlook for next season is exceedingly bright. Maine West has a fine junior varsity with several standouts playing varsity this year. With these boys having a year's experience, they could move right into the swing of things. So look up, things appear promising.
