Artists Sell Cookies;
Faculty Displays Art

The Art Department has been busy this past week with their annual cookie sale and faculty art exhibit. This annual cookie sale took place on November 19 and 21. The faculty art exhibit also took place during this time, displaying the creative works of the faculty.

Brownies, cookies, cupcakes, and fudge were just some of the goodies created by the art students last Tuesday and Thursday for their annual cookie sale.

The annual Art Club cookie sale serves a three‑fold purpose. First, it helps pay for the books which are given to the department winners at the Honors Assembly at the end of the year. It also helps pay for some 125 art awards which are presented to the outstanding student artists.

The most important role of the cookie sale this year, however, is new. One student will be given an expense paid trip to the University Summer Workshop, hopefully to Allerton Park at Champaign. This student would be, as Mr. George Blanas stated, "sponsored by the kids themselves."

"Different concepts and different ideas‑this is what makes up a healthy department," explained Mr. Blanas.
