V‑Show Becomes History at MW

This year's Variety Show is now a part of Maine West history. However there are still some things left to be said about the hard work and fun of the show.

The purpose of the whole show is not merely to raise money but to give more students a chance to put their talents to work.

"Musicals are for students who have musical experiences on stage; the Senior Class Play is for the seniors; and V‑Show is for all the students who have the talent or desire to perform on stage," according to Lise Pahnke '69, this year's student director.

Last year the show was held in spring along with the Senior Class Play and Bye Bye Birdie.

The administration felt it would be better if one of these productions was rescheduled for a fall performance. Plans were made for V‑Show to be held earlier in the year.

After the tryouts and selection of the different acts to be used came the actual planning of the show.

The money from this year's production will be used for other projects sponsored by Student Council such as: dances, G.I. Drive, Dial Tones, and the student activity calendar. It is not known at this time what the amount of money made will be from this year's production.

"It was a rewarding experience for me as well as the entire cast," said Lise Pahnke. "Everybody worked hard to overcome obstacles and put on a very good show.

"The cast was only on stage twice before the show was given, so many obstacles had to be overcome right then. Considering this, the whole cast did extremely well."

So ends V-Show for another year, but all the hard work and fun will long be remembered.
