Breakfast Includes 'Brass'

On December 6 some students attended the annual 'Breakfast with the Brass," which was sponsored by Student Council.

Anyone who had a first period study hall or who is a member of Student Council was eligible to attend the breakfast. These students and the Executive Committee met on an informal basis so they could become better acquainted.

The Executive Committee consists of: Mr. Herman L. Rider, Mr. James Coburn, Mr. Wayne Rosenquist, Miss Mae Jean Engen, and Mr. Fred Bencriscutto. Also attending were Miss Marcia Storey and Mr. Don Porter, Student Council sponsors.

When asked why the breakfast is held each year, Mr. Rider stated, "Through these types of events we may be able to establish better avenues of communications. Not only can we become acquainted with the students, but also with the students' problems."

There were no formal discussion topics planned, nor were any speeches delivered at the breakfast. This may be one of the main reasons why students attended.

The breakfast, which was held at the Bum Steer Restaurant, began at 7:30 a.m. While chatting about various activities held at Maine West, the participants enjoyed breakfast, which consisted of orange juice, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, coffee, and milk. Cost of the breakfast was $2.75 per person.
