Boys' Club To Present Annual Christmas Formal

This past week, Boys' Club has been operating their annual tri‑Maine Post Office and preparing for this year's Christmas formal, "Winter Mist." The dance is to take place Saturday, December 21, in the auditorium from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m.

Girls for the Christmas Court were nominated in every homeroom on Monday, December 8. The compiled names of all the girls were then placed on a ballot, and the boys voted for one girl from their own respective class.

Five girls were elected: Vera Binotti '69, Jenny Schmeissing '69, Vicki Moulton '70, Caryn Benton '71, and Kathy Jordan '72. The senior girl having the most votes will be crowned queen, and her runner‑up will be the senior representative. The queen will be crowned about 9:30 at the formal.

Plans for the decorations include streamers from the sides of the auditorium to the stage curtains, the words, "Winter Mist," placed on the curtains, and lighted hand rails.

Lighting crew will also help by shining colored lights on the walls. Two ornaments will be hung from the ceiling, one in the center and one in the back of the auditorium near the ramp.

The bids this year will be different from those of past years. They will have a winter scene on the cover and be green‑colored instead of the usual blue.

Entertainment will be provided by Frank Derrick and his orchestra.

Tom Bihari '70, decorations committee chairman, commented, "Nothing about this time of year makes it seem more like Christmas than working on the formal." Other committee chairmen are John Lovering '69, tickets and bids; and Mike Bistany '69, entertainment.

The Christmas Post Office was held in the cafeteria during lunch periods the week of December 16 through 20. Money raised from this service was used to defray the cost of the formal.

Cards could be sent to any of the three Maine schools for $.02 each or three cards for $.05. They were then delivered in homeroom, as in former years.

Mr. James Killam, a sponsor of Boys' Club commented, "It is the boys' greatest function."
