Leaders To Host Area Convention

For the first time in the history of Maine West, the Junior-Senior Leader Convention will be held here. Junior and Senior Leader girls from over 100 schools have been invited to attend the workshop, which will he held Saturday, January 11.

Registration will start at 8:30 a.m. in front of the auditorium. The cost will be about two dollars which also covers lunch.

The morning of the convention is divided into three sessions: 9:00 to 9:45, 9:50 to 10:30, and 10:35 to 11:15. Two of the many guest speakers are an American Airlines pilot and Mr. Eldon Burk, dean of boys. The speakers will conduct the discussion groups on such topics as "Drugs and Teenagers," "Careers in Physical Education," "Inner City Problems," "Group Dynamics," and "Problems that Face College Students."

A budget lunch is being planned for the convention. After lunch, the girls will be able to watch demonstrations of gymnastics and of self‑defense.

Barb Bednarz, president of the Leader Board, urges all Junior and Senior Leader girls to attend this "interesting and informative" leadership convention.
