MW Clubs Hold Parties To
Celebrate Christmas

Various school clubs and organizations had parties to help celebrate Christmas this year. These parties were celebrated in a wide, variety of ways‑from the Spanish tradition of breaking the piñata to making stockings stuffed with candy for the needy.


Gym Leaders

Father Smyth from Maryville addressed the Junior and Senior Leaders after school, Monday, December 16, at their party. He spoke on "The Spirit of Christmas." The members of the clubs were served a pot luck dinner prepared by the Senior Leaders.

Pep Club

A small band entertained the Pep Club on Tuesday, December 17. The party was held in a study hall at school, and re­freshments consisted of ginger-sherbert punch and cookies. Miss June Thompson is the Pep Club sponsor and Sue Winn '70 is the president.

Spanish Club

Spanish Club celebrated Christmas in the traditional Spanish custom of breaking the piñata. The party was held in C109. Wendy Ishihara '69 is president and Alberta Smith '70 is vice‑president.

German Club

German cake and German decorations highlighted the Christmas celebration for the members of the German Club. Christmas carol singing in German and English provided the entertainment for the party which was held after school in A215 on Wednesday, December 18.

French Club

Cog au vin (chicken cooked in wine) topped the refreshment list at the party held by the French Club. Jean Gradl '69 president, led the members in singing Christmas carols.

Future Teachers Club

The Future Teachers of America held their party in B214 on Wednesday, December 18, after school. Miss Suzanne Lutz, the club sponsor, entertained the members by telling of some of her teaching experiences.

Home Economics Club

Sending gifts to the needy was the project of the Home Economics Club this year. They combined work with play at their party on Wednesday, December 18. The girls made red net Christmas stockings which they filled with home baked cookies and small toys. The stockings will be distributed by the members at the Bensenville Children's Home sometime before Christmas, but a definite date has not been set.

Orchesis

On December 17, Orchesis members, by performing dance routines to the music of Christmas carols, entertained at the Orchesis party. Grab bag gifts added to the celebration.

G.A.A.

The Girls Athletic Association (G.A.A.) had a Christmas playnight on Thursday, December 5. The girls invited their mothers to come along. The evening started with the initiation of new members. To become a member, each girl must earn 25 points by participating in various intramural activities after school. They spent the remainder of the evening in C-wing gym on gymnastic equipment and swimming in the pool.
