Where is the spirit of Christmas?
Where is the beckoning star?
Killed by some evil spirit?
Drowned by the currents of war?
How can the Master who gave us
"Peace to all men of good will"
Gaze on His wondering children
And know that we worship Him still?
Why, there is the spirit of Christmas,
Out where the bombers roar by.
And there is the star you are seeking,
Lighting the earth and the sky.
Out where our loved ones are fighting
It brings them the message so old:
"Fear not, for I am still with you,
To guide you safe to the fold."
They die as He died before them,
Giving the most they can give.
And while we remember our heroes,
The spirit of Christmas shall live.
