Wandering Warrior

Has the relationship between smoking and respiratory disease affected your decision about smoking?

Larry Chiles '72 - No, I wouldn't smoke, though, because I got caught and got in too much trouble.

Greg Trejo '71 - No, because it's too late. Smoking is a part of society.

Mike Reiken '69 - No, I don't believe anything commercials say. You don't see your parents quitting, do you?

Jim Krumpolz '71 - No, I just think it's dumb. Too many people smoke because they think it's a sign of maturity. I can prove it without smoking.

Jim Sorensen '69 - Definitely. Because of the television commercials, the speeches at school, and my parents, I've decided I'd rather live eight more years.

Gene La Pointe '71 - No, I've got a bad cough, but I decided not to quit, anyway. The commercials don't bother me. I like to watch them.

Shelby Wessel '71 - Yes, if you're stupid enough to smoke, you're dumb enough to spend all that money. Why die early?

Mary Kate McGuire '71 - I don't think smoking is worth it - the risk of cancer, but if I wanted to smoke I would.

Stephenie Carynski '71 Smoking what?

Debbie Mateling '69 - Not really. I tried it once, but the reason I wouldn't smoke is because of the crummy taste.

Mark Pesche '71 - No, if you're going to die anyway, it might as well be from smoking.

Gary Pruitt '69 - No. In the first place, I don't smoke at all; I'm out for a sport. Anyhow, cigarettes cost too much.

Donna Smith '69 - No, it hasn't really. People who have been smoking 30 or 40 years never got cancer. I don't think it is directly related.

Diane Bognar '69 - No, it hasn't. It is something I enjoy And if you don't smoke heavily and you enjoy it, then why not?

John Aylward '69 - No, because it affects more how you act. If you smoke, you're one of the hard guys. It also slows you down.

Dar Fricano '69 - Smoke? Me? Do you think I want my growth stunted?

Lauri Michalsen '69 - No, I thought about it; but when you're going to die, you're gunna die.

Diane Schmidtke '70 - Yes, evidence shows a connection between disease and smoking, and that's good enough for me.

Bryant Ways '69 - Cough!
