The Warrior netmen are still seeking their first conference victory following losses to New Trier West and to Glenbrook North. The Cowboys of New Trier played host to the bucketmen on December 20 and came out on top with an 84‑51 score. Senior Tom Mustoe led the New Trier attack as Maine never got in gear to challenge them.
The Proviso West Holiday Tournament was next for the varsity as they opposed Downers Grove North in the opening round. Senior Randy Breuseher led the Warriors with 16 points, and George Jellen '70 was next with 11. Jeff Dawson of Downers hit for 30 points as Maine fell 70‑58. It was a tight game all the way as Downers led at the half 36‑26.
Our netmen then entered the consolation round and were opposed by the Oak Park Huskies. Balanced scoring highlighted the Warrior attack, but they

were edged out 70-67. Kim Freeman '69 and Randy Breuscher each hit for 15 points, while George Jellen '70 and Dennis Willison '71 hit the nets for 13 points apiece. The bucketmen brushed off a 13-point halftime edge held by the Huskies, but fell short.
January 10 was the date of the first conference tilt following the tournament as the Warriors traveled to the floor of the Glenbrook North Spartans. Willie Anderson '70 sparked the Warrior attack with a 12-point effort while Kim Freeman '69 and Dennis Willison '71 added 10 points each. Their efforts were not enough as the Spartans captured a 64-51 win. This defeat left the Warrior conference record standing at 0-4.
Tonight the varsity cagers hope to improve that record as they visit the Glenbrook South Titans. Glenbrook has an identical record so a win would move the Warriors out of the Central Suburban League cellar.
