The Maine West Music Department will present the annual winter Band‑Orchestra Concert on Sunday, February 2, beginning at 3 p.m. Three musical groups at Maine, the Concert Orchestra, the Show Band, and the Concert Band, will perform.
The price of the tickets is $.75 for anyone of student age and $1 for adults. Tickets will be available upon admission Sunday afternoon.
Many selections which will be performed have been composed by well‑known musicians. The "Symphony No. 41 in C Major 'Juniper" will begin the Concert Orchestra's selections. Following will be the "Symphonic Espagnole in D Minor" featuring Janet Pendergrass '69 on the violin.
The String Orchestra will perform the "Overture to 'Candide,' " Pajama Game selections: "Hey, There," "Hernando's Hideaway," and "Once-A‑Year Day" which will complete the Orchestra pieces.

The Show Band will present three numbers. These will include "Waltz Scent," "My Old Flame," and "36 Heads." Drummers in the "36 Heads" will be Steve Drensky '70, Bruce Nelson '69, Howard Peterson '69, and Steve Ware '69.
"March of the Golden Brass" will begin the Concert Band selections. "Variations on a Korean Folk Song," "Praeludium," "Festive Overture, Opus 96," and "Concerto Grosso in D Minor" will also be played. A rendition of "Flutes Flutes Flutes!" will feature the flute section of the Cadet and Concert Bands.
Solo twirler Sandy Lauffenburger '69 will be accompanied by the Concert Band performing "The Work Song."
The program will be concluded with the Concert Band's playing of the "Manhattan Beach March."
The conductors of the Band-Orchestra Concert are Mr. Robert Kuite, Music Department chairman and band director; Mr. Gerald Hug, associate band director; and Mrs. Mildred Heidorn, orchestra director.
