Sports Personality
Warrior or Agile Monkey, Jim Stars in Gymnastics

"Picture a nimble, energetic monkey, whipping over the horizontal bars. This is me, Jim Janssen '69"

This brown‑haired "monkey" reaches the height of 5'7", (that is, with his tail uncurled). Jim looks at the world through dull-colored hazel eyes. Jim comments, "Behind eyes that seemingly appear dull hides a happy and joyful personality, a Batman sort of deception."

Jim is a member of the gymnastics team and has been for all of his four years at Maine West. He believes, "The team is a good one this year, one of the strongest we ever had. There are 12 seniors and six or seven returning lettermen." Jim also adds that the team's record for the year since the January 19 meet is 2‑5.

Busy days for Jim are all normal procedure to him. Besides going to school and keeping up with homework, Jim works out for the team until 5:30 p.m. and then goes to his job in a grocery store until 9:30 p.m.

When Jim does have spare time, he declares, "I would sleep, ski, sleep, ski, and maybe work out a little bit." Jim's favorite place to ski is Wilmont Lodge in Wisconsin.

Jim is planning a long range future for himself. He explains, "My main ambition is to become a tool and die maker, which will consist of six years apprenticeship, though.

First I would like to get in a college education." Jim will enter Wisconsin State University next fall.
