Frosh Lead Enrollment With 920

As of September 22, 1969, Maine Township High School West has the largest enrollment since its construction.

At the opening of the '67‑'68 school year, the total student enrollment was 3,202. In the '69 school year, West's enrollment totaled 3,376. As of September 3, 1969, the entire student population totals 3,501 plus 24 new students since that date.

As in previous years, the freshman class is the largest of the classes with a total of 920 students. The second largest class is the juniors with a total of 864 students followed by the seniors who total 800. This year the class with the smallest amount of students is the sophomores with 719 students.

When reviewing Maine West's past enrollment figures, it is evident that the number of students increases with each passing year. This year a new problem has been added since some of the parochial schools have been closing. This then puts a greater strain on the school's faculty and facilities. In order to cope with this strain, Maine West is now equipped with a speed line in the cafeteria, a new field house, and an entire new wing.

As of today, September 26, 1969, Maine is the largest that it has ever been since its construction.
