Warrior Baseball Record:
Undefeated in 3 Games

Holding on to a slim one game lead over Glenbrook North going into this past week, the first place Maine Warriors baseball team is hoping for continued success throughout the season as they meet Maine South this Monday. The tilt, scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. against the Hawks will be the Warriors eighth contest in April and third in one week.

Even though the Hawks are not considered a power in the Central Suburban League such as Maine West, Niles West, or Glenbrook North are, the Warriors should not look too lightly at the Maine South team. Maine South last Friday upset a strong Glenbrook North team, 2‑0. The drubbing dropped Glenbrook into second place, one game behind Maine West who holds on to a 3‑0 conference record.

Maine West going into this past week can honestly attribute its success to the superb pitching and fine defensive play of its diamondmen. In their three conference and six overall victories, the Warriors incredibly enough have not allowed an earned run to score even though only seven unearned runs have crossed the plate.

To highlight an individual pitching performance, senior Ken Dopp hurled one of those rarities in baseball ‑ a no‑hitter.

Extremely close to a perfect game, Dopp walked only two batters in performing his feat and was aided fantastically by left fielder Jim Kulik's '70 diving catch that preserved Dopp's no‑hitter.
