Music Department To Present Concert

The Maine West Music Department will present the May Music Festival tonight at 8 p.m. in the auditorium. The concert is held in conjunction with the Fine Arts Festival.

The Concert Band, Girls' Glee, Choraliers, Concert Choir, and Concert Orchestra will all perform on the program. According to Mr. Robert Kuite, Music Department chairman, "This concert gives the senior soloists a chance to perform."

Beth Swain '70, Marilyn Lussky '70, and Heather Brown '71, will combine in two numbers. Paul Busija '70, Roy Hansen '70, and Jim Sedlack '71 are members of the trumpet trio from Concert Band.

Shirley Frank '72 and Cheryl Boeckenhauer '72 are two of the accompanists in the Girls' Glee. Shirley will play "I'll Never Fall in Love Again" by Bacharach-Albert, and Cheryl will play "Allelulia! Spring is Here" by Kopolyoff‑Grant.

From the Choraliers' part of the program, Mark Enggas '71, drums; Roy Hansen '70, trumpet; Linda Lossau '70, string bass; Jan Jarvis '71, conga drum; and Doug Kuite '71, guitar, will play "Requiem for the Masses."

Three students from Concert Choir will sing the parts of Gabriel, Vriel, and Raphael in "The Heavens Are Telling." They are Jeannie Means '70, soprano; Carl Sjostrand '72, tenor; and Doug Kuite '71, bass.

The two soloists from Concert Orchestra are Susan Chamberlin '70 on organ and Gail loss '70 on the flute.

Mr. Sjostrand is the father of Carl Sjostrand, a member of the choir, and he has written a piece for this evening.

The tickets are $.75 for students and $1 for adults. The directors of the concert are Mr. Robert Kuite, Mr. Gerald Hug, Mrs. Mildred Heidorn, and Mr. Donald Lord.
