NHS Initiates 132 Members

The National Honor Society initiated qualified members of the junior and senior classes at 8 p.m. on May 1 in the Maine West auditorium. Twenty‑nine juniors and 103 seniors were honored.

The program included Karen Gatsis '70, Daniel Moll '70, Susan Winn '70, and Dave Atkinson '70, who spoke on the prerequisites for membership to the honor society. These prerequisites are character, service, leadership, and scholarship. Miss Ruth Nickelson, a member of the English Department, also spoke to the new members.

The officers of National Honor Society for this year are Brad Price '70, president; Keith Pischke '70, vice‑president; Hilary Packard '70, secretary; and Constance Hopkins '70, treasurer.

Miss Anne Lauterbach, sponsor, commented, "I am glad we have such a large number of initiates this year." To be eligible, a senior must have a B average based on class rank and have taken at least four full credit courses in each of the seven semesters. A junior must have the same requirements plus no grade lower than a B for the five semesters.
