On May 21, 22, and 23 at 8 p.m. dinosaurs and mammoths will be romping on the Maine West stage. What's the reason? On those dates Maine will present its annual all-school play, The Skin of Our Teeth. The three-act comedy was written by Thorton Wilder.
The play centers around Mr. and Mrs. Antrobus, their children Gladys and Henry, and their maid Sabina. The unusual thing about the Antrobus family is that they exist in two times at once. They live back in the stone age and also in present day in Excelsior, New Jersey. As Sabina says in the first act, "The author hasn't made up his silly mind as to whether we're all living back in caves or in New Jersey today, and that's the way it is the whole way through."
Starring as Mr. and Mrs. Antrobus are Dave O'Grady '70 and Barb Berner '70. Gladys and Henry are played by Tina Kaneen '70 and Ned Peterson '71. Sandy Salerno '71 portrays Sabina.
Supporting roles are played by Bob Fitzgerald '73, Jan Zabinski '70, Jim Konopacz '70, Linda Markunas '70, Bob Konopacz '73, and Matt O'Grady '73. Completing the list of supporting players are Rene Hoekstra '71, Toni Hem '70, Jill Fodder '71, Vicki Letto '71, Ed Weaver '73, and Mark Greene '72.

The general director is Mr. Robert Norris. He says he feels "The theatre has lagged behind the other arts in finding new ways to express how men and women think and feel in our time. The Skin of Our Teeth helps bring it up to date."
Assisting Mr. Norris with the production are student directors Karen Gatsis '70 and Barb Zeissler '70. The stage manager is Diane Gatsis '72; the costume designer is Barb Zeissler; and the house manager is Karen Gatsis. Make‑up is under the direction of Pam Dieness '71. Glen McGee '70 is supervising the set construction.
The play, as stated before, was written by Thorton Wilder. Wilder has received the Pulitzer Prize three times. He won it for his novel, The Bridge of San Luis Rey, and his play, Our Town. Finally, he won the prize for The Skin of Our Teeth.
The play is being sponsored by Thespian Society. Tickets will be sold the week of May 18‑22 and may be purchased from cast members and in the bookstore. The price will be $1.50. The seats are not reserved.
