Outstanding Art, Science Students
Receive Awards of Honor

Every year Art and Science Awards are given to outstanding students for achievements throughout the school year. At the end of the school year an awards night is held at which these outstanding students are honored. The heads of the departments are in charge of these assemblies.

The Art Awards night will be held in the cafeteria at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13.

The Art Festival will be Friday, May 8, in E‑wing.

The head of the Art Department is Mr. George Blanas.

About 150 art students will receive Art Awards. Students are nominated by their teachers.

Some of the qualifications for an Art Award are scholarship in the Art Department, responsibility, attitude, and performance in class. Still more achievements of an art student receiving an award are growth in performance, creativeness, awareness, and service to the class and Art Department.

Mr. Loren Miller is the head of the Science Department. The Science Awards night will be held in the auditorium on Tuesday, May 12, at 7:30 p.m.

The ability of the student in science is the major factor for appointment to the award. The science student's ability to take part in one or more co‑curricular activities and to be highly respected by students and the faculty are also considered important to qualify for an award.
