Juniors Hold Prom,
Announce Officers

Saturday, May 16, was this year's Junior Prom, "Sura‑O‑Matsuri," which means cherry blossom festival. The theme was oriental; and as couples entered the auditorium, a Japanese man was atop the stairs, sounding a gong to announce the arrivals.

The wall of the auditorium was decorated like a garden. There were Japanese lanterns along the railings. On the stage there was a teahouse where four Japanse girls sat all evening while other Japanese girls walked through the auditorium.

A‑201 was used for the refreshments. Fortune cookies and punch were served. The bids were different than in other years. They were rolled up in a scroll, instead of the flat, book-like bids.

During the Prom, the officers for next year's Senior Class were announced. They are Jan Jarvis, president; Mark Berquist, vice‑president; Paulette Jados, secretary; and Mary Young, treasurer. A special award was given to Sharon Busse, who made many of the decorations.
