Students Visit Other Schools

Sixteen Maine West students will be exchanged either on January 28 and February 5 or on February 11 and 17. They will be exchanged with Elk Grove, New Trier West, Lane Tech, and Glenbrook South high school students.

The exchanges are being sponsored by the Service Committee of Student Council. Their purpose is to promote- better understanding of the scholastic and extra-curricular programs and the student governments of the selected schools.

Students have been selected and interviewed by a committee consisting of Mr. Robert Cassidy and Miss Marcia Storey, Student Council sponsors; Amy Robertson '71, Service Committee chairman; Dave Atkinson '70, Student Council president; Mr. A.K.H. Cochrane, assistant principal; Roger Junge '72; and Debbie Lehmann '71, Exchange Program chairman.

Escorts for visiting students are members of Student Council. They have filled out applications and have been selected by the same committee. The visiting students will attend the classes of their escorts.

Each Maine West exchange student will be responsible for turning in a written report within a week after the exchange. All reports will be kept on file in the Council office for future reference.

One Student Council member will go to each school. This member will be responsible for giving an oral report to Student Council.

Student Council feels that this exchange will be beneficial to both the students who are either directly or indirectly involved with the exchange. It will give the students a chance to see other curriculums and student bodies in action.
