Student Council Sponsors Exchange

In order to promote a better understanding of the scholastic or classroom program, the extra-curricular program, and the student government of other schools the Student Council had an exchange program. It was found that the present situation here at Maine West could be advantageously re-evaluated.

Selection of exchange students was made from the student body at large. At least one Student Council member attended each exchange. Students applied for the exchange by filling out an application in the Student Council office. From these applications a smaller group of students was chosen and interviewed. The interviews determined the final choice of students. Questions such as: "What do you hope to gain from the exchange? Why did you select the school that you did? How do you think the exchange will benefit Maine West?" were asked.

Students chosen for the exchange were Jan Olenicki '70, Jenny Kwist '71, Debbie Wojak '71, and Mike Fulle '73; all went to New Trier West. Students chosen to go to Lane Tech were Dave Nelson '71, Carl Wells '71, Jeff Hanus '70, and Robert Reding '70. Those who went to Elk Grove were Clark Bending '70, Cathy Morgan '70, Donna Kuykendall '71, and Bonnie Cassidy '73.

Other students chosen who went to Glenbrook North were Steve Mirro '72, Roxanne Miller '73, Renee Singer '70, and Sharon Busse '71. Students chosen to be escorts were Paulette Jados '71, Lynne Broberg '70, Kurt Meyer '70, Kurt Klein '72, Amy Robertson '71. Ticker Burchard '72, Debbie Lehman '71, and Pat Tures '71.
