On Friday, February 13, the tankmen finished in sixth place in the Central Suburban Conference Meet held at Maine West.
Of the eight teams competing, Maine West's varsity, scoring 110 points, managed to finish ahead of Maine South and Niles West. The sophomores also took sixth, ahead of Niles North and Niles West. The sophomores scored 113 points.
Deerfield took first in both levels, while New Trier West finished second in both. Deerfield scored 244 points in the varsity meet, only 16 points ahead of New Trier's total of 228.
In individual performances Skip Parent '71 finished .6 of a second away from the conference record of 2:09.1 in the 200‑yard individual medley. Skip also took third in the 100‑yard butterfly.

Don Hudson '72 scored 12 points in the 200‑yard individual medley. He picked up an additional 12 in the 100‑yard butterfly.
As far as how other meets went, on February 7, both varsity and sophomore tankmen routed Elk Grove. The varsity won 67‑28, while the sophomores won 72‑18.
On February 6 both levels took it on the chin at the hands of New Trier West. The varsity lost 64‑31, while the sophomores lost 67‑28.
