Maine West placed first in the Center Meet that attracted 17 high schools. The meet was held last Saturday at 9:30 a.m. This meet is the second biggest in the state.
Maine was the winner on tree of the five levels. The five levels were freshman, sophomore, junior varsity, B. varsity, and varsity. The freshmen and sophomores ran two miles and the J. varsity, B. varsity, and varsity ran two and three-fourths.
The freshmen got the ball rolling by taking second in their division. The five scorers were Klebe '74 seventh, Farmer '74 twenty‑first, Frost '74 twenty-second, Dunavant '74 twenty-sixth, and Myers '74 twenty-ninth. The individual winner and the winning school was Lyons.
The sophomores didn't do as well and wound up seventh. The five scorers were Barbour '73 ninth, Frost '73 sixteenth, Sedlack '73 forty‑third, Long '73 sixty‑fourth, Burchard '73 sixty-seventh, and McDonald '73 seventy‑fifth. The individual and the winning school was Lyons.

The junior varsity fared much better by placing first. Tony Winder led the way with a first place finish. Following were Ward '72 seventh, Berquist '72 ninth, Farmer '72 twelfth, and Richards '72 fourteenth.
The B. varsity did as well by placing first in their division. Watkins '71 led the way with a third place finish. Other scorers were Kamin, Forkins, Long, and Gyssler. The individual winner was from Addison Trails.
The varsity, not to be outdone, also placed first. Maine's Jack St. John, the individual winner, set a new course record with a time of 14:13 breaking the old record set last year. Other scorers were Kovar '71, Duntemann '71, Wright '72, and Gustafson '71.
The overall team standings showed Maine in first with 257 points, Maine South second with 220 points, and Willowbrook third with 218 points.
