On May 9 students from Maine West and other Chicagoland schools will be participating in this year's Hike for the Hungry. By walking, these students will show their concern for the poor in a direct, person‑to‑person way.

Paulette Jados '71 will be organizing the Hike for the Hungry here at Maine. Paulette commented, "I really hope that students show an interest in the project. This is one way that we, the youth, can voice our involvement in present day issues."

The route the hikers will take will consist of a total of 30 miles. The hike will start near Old Orchard shopping center and continue through the Skokie, Niles, Northbrook, Glencoe, Kenilworth, and Evanston areas. Hikers are advised to bring their own food and comfortable shoes.
