March 20 found the cinderman traveling to Maine East for the Blue Demon Relays.

Jeff Duff '71 took a first in the long jump and also set a record. Jack St. John grabbed a third in the mile. Mike Pruitt '71 placed third and fourth in the high and low hurdles. The varsity two‑mil e relay team, the frosh‑soph distance medley, the spring relay, and the class relay all grabbed fourths.

Traveling to LaGrange on April 10, the Warriors ran up against two tough teams. LaGrange came out on top with 78 points. Palatine had 40 and Maine had 35.

St. John and Ken Kovar '71 picked up a first and third in the two‑mile. Tom Zabroske '71 grabbed a second in the 100‑yard dash. Steve Suckow '72 placed third and fourth in the shot and discus. St. John and Duntemann grabbed first and third in the mile.

The 440‑yard run found Bob Berquist '72 picking up a third. The 880‑yard relay picked up a second, and the mile relay also grabbed a second. Wayne Gyssler '72 placed third in the pole vault. Duff picked up thirds in the long jump and the 220. The Warriors were blanked in the high hurdles and the 880.

On April 17 the Warriors traveled to Niles North for the Viking Relays. The Warriors placed fifth out of the 12 teams entered.

Leading the team to the fifth place finish were record holders St. John and Duff. St. John took a first in the two‑mile and also set a meet record. Duff captured a first in the long jump and set a record.
