Tryouts for the J.V. and Varsity Cheerleading Squads for the '71‑'72 school year were held Thursday, April 22. Girls were judged on their jumps, knowledge of the cheers, pep, and their coordination. On Monday through Wednesday the girls were taught the cheers at a clinic held in A‑wing gym.

At the tryouts on Thursday, Diane Sachetti '71, Jill Wetham '71, Sue Black '71, Rita Nelson '71, Mrs. Nancy Kerby, Miss Sherry Olson, Mr. Ervin Geisler, and Mr. Sid Drain were the judges.

The girls who made J.V. are Janice Andrews '73, Helen Darras '73, Carol Webster '73, Diane Venema '73, Debbie Brodd '73, and Jo Pocius '73.

The Varsity Squad will consist of: Carol Gigante '72, Jo Dee Rowells '72, Claire Robertson '73, Gwen Russell '73, Terri Worra '73, Cindy Brodie '73, Sue Anderson '73, and Kathy Mordue '73.

The Pom‑Pon Squad for '71‑'72 has also had their tryouts. The 20 girls were chosen on their ability to kick, their coordination, knowledge of the routine, and their ability to perform in a group.

A routine to the school song was taught on Monday and Tuesday, April 26 and 27, to over 100 girls. Semi‑final tryouts were held on Wednesday, April 28, where 47 girls were chosen. On Thursday, April 29, a dance routine was taught to the music of "Chicago," and on Friday the final tryouts were held.

The Pom‑Pon girls for '71‑'72 are Karla Felde '72, Kathy Jordan '72, Diana Lambert '72, Mary Paroubek '72, Laurie Feltz '72, Gigi Schueller '72, Cindy Figge '73, Sandy Garza '73, Kathy Dohse '73 and Jan Gibbert '73.

Donna Holst '73, Lori Rowells '73, Sandy Beyer '73, Sally Lino '72, Gail Nygaard '73, Betty Sloan '72, first alternate Deb Parry' 72, second alternate Sue Winkelman '73, third alternate Chris Johannson '73, and fourth alternate Jan Kennedy '72 are also part of the list.

Judging for Pom‑Pon tryouts were Gail Russell '71, Debbie Wojak '71, Mrs. Linda Szostek, Mr. Robert Norris, and Mrs. Jean Sides.
