On Monday, April 26, the Maine West varsity golf team opened conference play as they lost to their arch‑rivals, the Maine South Hawks, 166‑172, on the Hawks' home course. Gary Navratil '71 was low man for the Warriors with a 41; however, his opponent Comyn had a 37. Tom Dorsey '71 turned in a 42; Dorsey was the only Warrior to beat his opponent, as his man Katz had a 43.
Randy Getsla '71 lost by one stroke to Romness; Getsla shot a 44. Jim Krumpolz '71 was beaten by two strokes by Colnitis. Krumpolz posted a 45, and Russ Smith '71 added a 46. The loss gave the Warrior golfers a conference record in the Central Suburban League of no wins and one loss and an overall record of four wins and three losses.
The Warrior golfers played in a triangular on Friday, April 23, at Golden Acres Country Club. Maine West defeated Elk Grove 169‑177, and West won over East Leyden 169‑184. Gary Navratil led Maine West as he toured the nine‑hole course in 38 strokes. Jim Krumpolz shot a 41; Randy Getsla, Russ Smith, and Tom Dorsey each added 45's; and Gene Rydzinski '71 posted a 47.

Maine West posted their lowest score of the golf season on Tuesday, April 20, at Golden Acres. West downed the Maine North Norsemen by 28 strokes 166‑194. Jim Krumpolz led the Warriors with a medalist 40, outplaying his Maine North opponent Bill Prevelet by 16 strokes. Russ Smith fired a 41, Gary Navratil turned in a 42, Tom Dorsey shot a 43, and Randy Getsla added a 44.
Tomorrow morning Maine West will participate in the Chevy Chase Invitational at 11. On Monday, May 10, the Warrior golf team will be at Golden Acres for a conference meet with Glenbrook South. On Tuesday, May 11, Maine will play Glenbrook North at Golden Acres.
The varsity golfers will play in the state districts at White Pines Country Club on May 14 and 15. Maine West will travel to New Trier West's home course for a conference meet on Monday, May 17.
