Didn't they tell us ever since we were little to eat everything on our plates because thousands of people are starving in China? And, if we were witty, we would say, "Name two." But now that we realize today that people are starving we don't have to do anything about it, because someone else will hike for hunger, join the Peace Corps, give to C.A.R.E.

We're not so close to death; Why should we worry about an old lady who has no one to live for, talk to, love. The Boy Scouts will bring her peanuts, or is it the Girlno matter, someone else will smile at her. Someone else will stop and find the beauty of her past years before she became lonely and a nuisance. Someone else will admire her garden. See, we can­

Birds? Now who has time to watch them fly. Watch them swoop and sing and live in the sky, a place we can't touch. What do they have to do with anything important; we'd rather watch the Cubs. No, really, what good are birds to today's society? They dirty our windshields. Watch them? Someone will write about them in a poem or a song; we can read that.

Let him do it.

We'll live our lives in our little worlds and be happy, oh yes, we will. We will go from one small world to the other. When we see France next year, we won't bother to know a new somebody: there won't be time. We have to get a picture of the Eiffel Tower so our friends have proof we were there. Don't listen to anyone who says, "You really didn't see the real France, not without finding anyone." Why, they are crazy, you never know about people, especially strangers.

Just let the other guy do it.

We don't have to listen to the children; for one thing, sometimes they're cruel. Besides, the old people and the ice cream men have time. They only know what we know and what we don't care about anymore. Like shiny stones and lightning bugs. They want everything they see and that's too expensive. Someone will listen about their black and blue knee. We don't have to.

Just let the other guy do it.

And editorials such as this don't have to be written because no one will read it. And people don't have to spend hours writing speeches even if they do feel for something. No one will listen; maybe someone will, so we don't have to. So don't worry so much; you see life is just so simple.

Just let someone else live it for you.
