In the district meet at Prospect on May 14, the Warriors finished seventh. Maine's two representatives for this year's state meet are Jack St. John '71 and Jeff Duff '71.
St. John, a contender for the state title in the two‑mile, had to settle for a second. He recorded a 9:14, his fastest time of the year.
Duff, a contender for the long jump title also took a second. He jumped 22'21/2", his second longest leap of the year.
With only the Maine South, New Trier West triangular and the conference meet left, Maine's cindermen have done no worse or better than expected.
Following their opening loss to Proviso West, the Warriors rebounded to trounce Glenbrook North and Niles North. In the Proviso West Invitational the Warriors placed eighth. Maine also had to take a backseat to Maine South in the District 207 meet.

The Warriors picked up their second triangular win of the year by defeating Wheeling and Palatine. The Indoor Conference meet found the Warriors finishing second. Out of the 13 teams entered in the Evanston Relays, Maine finished fifth.
Maine grabbed a fourth in the Prospect Invitational. The team also finished fourth in the Waukegan Relays. In a triangular with LaGrange and Palatine, Maine took third. The Warriors placed fifth in the Niles North Relays.
Number one distance runner St. John grabbed firsts in the two‑mile in every meet this year. He also had the fastest two‑mile time in the state in the indoor season. St. John also ran the mile. Duff, the number one long jumper, grabbed 10 firsts, including a conference win.
