Students Exemplify Maine Way

"Non‑prejudice, integrity, respect, responsibility, friendliness, sportsmanship." Seniors have lived with these words for four years. They make up the Maine Way, which appears on a plaque on every classroom wall. To find the students who exemplify the Maine Way through service to their school and fellow students was the purpose of electing 16 seniors to receive Good Will awards.

In May teachers nominated and voted for students who have not had a misconduct record and whom they thought met the qualifications to receive the award. The list was then given to the Senior Class on May 21. The students then voted for six girls and six boys whom they thought should get Good Will

Awards. The votes were then tabulated, and the winners were announced this morning at the annual honors assembly. Mrs. Marilyn Rick, counselor, was in charge of the awards.

Eight senior boys received Good Will Awards. They are David Arnswald, Bruce Beam, James Hanselmann, Peter LeBlond, Douglas Lauffenburger, David Nelson, Jerome Palarz, Eugene Rydzinski.

The girls who were honored were Susan Ahrendt, Susan Black, Sharon Busse, Paulette Jados, Donna Kuykendall, Donna Musselman, Rita Nelson, and Jill Whetham.

Maria del Carmen de la Torre, foreign exchange student, received an honorary award.
